Arms and Armor

I recently visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) in NYC.  I loved the museum and was amazed at the different collections. Now I am not an arms and armor person and usually I avoid this section but the one on display at the MET took my breath away. It's a beautiful modern collection focussing on excellent design and decoration rather than just pure military and technical use. Each piece has such fine details that it was hard not to stand and admire the excellent artistry.

The elaborately decorated Greenwich armors were from the English Royal workshops founded by King Hentry VIII. It houses one of Henry's personal armors which was made in Italy and was worn by the king in his last campaign against the French at Calais in 1544.
